Year-End Worship Service

2011 is coming to an end. We want to use the New Year's Eve to reflect and look back what God has done in our lives during this year.

Our Year-End Worship Service will be this coming Saturday, 31st of December at 11.00pm in our regular service hall at Hosanna Church in Hadan. We want to worship God and share about his love being evident in our lives. Through that we want to enter the new year in God's presence.

Be aware, that you will be able to come by public transport, for your way home though you need to organize your own transport. If you would like to come, but are unable to organize transport, feel free to contact us. We'll see what we can do :)

HIM Christmas Celebration

It's Christmas soon!

We warmly invite you to celebrate Christmas, the birthday of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ this coming Sunday, December 25th with us.

Our HIM Christmas celebration will be right after the regular worship service, which starts 12:30pm.

To start into our Christmas celebration we are planning to have a special international Christmas potluck. To make it special we want to share only homemade food. If you are able to prepare and bring food that you eat at home in your country for Christmas, it's even better!

We will also have a gift exchange. So please bring a small wrapped gift worth not more than 3000-5000 Won on that day. Buying something or wrapping something that you have at home doesn't matter.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact Pastor Son (010-3526-5017) or Dominic (010-3093-0660)

New HIM leadership

With the start of the new church year there were some changes in the HIM leadership. Dominic Bothello, who took care of us HIMers from the beginning of 2011, handed over his leadership position to Pastor Dahm Son.

Looking back, we thank Dominic a lot for his willingness to be our pastor and shepherd, when HIM was in a difficult situation without a leader. We are grateful for his welcoming heart, his willingness to lead by humbly serving us, and for the time he took for each one of us. We are more than happy to have him and his family still with us, as he will continue to serve HIM.

From left: Pastor Son, Dominic Bothello, Deacon Jang and Deaconess Baek

We also welcome Deacon Jang and new finance accountant Deaconess Baek, who will replace Deacon Cho and Deaconess Kim.

We wish Pastor Son and the new leadership God's blessing in their service with HIM and lots of wisdom and sensitivity to handle our colorful and diverse international crowd :)

End of HIM church year

As the church year has ended, we have to say goodbye again to Korean staff members, who have served faithfully in HIM during the last year. We are sad to lose them, as they will be serving in different areas of Hosanna Church next year.

Deacon Cho was responsible for HIM from the Korean church side. Deaconess Kim was in charge of our finances.

Pastor Andres also joined us last year. He will be leaving to serve in the Indonesian and Vietnamese services.

We really appreciate their service in HIM and wish them God's blessing and all the best for their future.

Summer retreat review

Last weekend the HIM group held its annual summer retreat. Once again it was a Friday-Saturday event. This year we went to Jinhae, staying at a local church there, next to the STX shipyards.

After settling in on Friday afternoon some people took a walk to a nearby island at low tide, played Danny’s trivia contest in teams, and went on a scavenger hunt.  Dominic also led the group in focusing on the word "retreat" – looking back over the last year at our challenges and blessings. At dinnertime the second wave of people arrived. We had another short praise & devotions session, and Kyunga passed around some small group discussion questions.  Some people went out again for some fresh air, and others went to "bed" (or shall we say "floor"?).

On Saturday we took a short ferry ride to an island beach getaway. Many had fun swimming, playing soccer with umbrellas, and enjoying a nice barbecue lunch. We finally packed up and returned to Busan and enjoyed pizza for dinner.

It was a successful and enjoyable trip. There was no rain, illness, or serious injuries. Best of all, we could enjoy a meaningful time of fellowship together in the Lord.

Spread the love at Soyang orphanage

This coming Saturday, July the 16th, we are going to visit Soyang Childrens Home.

Soyang orphanage is home to about 60 children from kindergarten to university students. They all need to have some fun now and again and fun is what we intend to give them. We encourage you to join us as we give these kids the attention they may not always receive but definitely deserve.

We will be meeting at Hadan subway station, exit 1 at 12pm. Transport to the orphanage has been arranged so please try to be on time.

These kids almost never eat junk food or candy so if possible please bring a packet of something sweet, I'm sure it will make their day even more special. This is the first time we have organized an event here and with your help we can make a lasting positive impression on these young minds.

If you have any problems on the day please contact Candice ~ 010-8953-4854

We look forward to seeing you there!
